Good evening, everyone! I am pushing the limits of my bedtime right now, but the first quarter has passed and April is zooming away, so I wanted to post a check-in on the state of the stash!
There have been several additions this year: I already mentioned my handspinning efforts, and if you’d asked, I would have sworn up and down that I had blogged about my haul from Winter Woolfest. But no, that post is nowhere to be found. So, in a nutshell…
The Woolfest haul. Tumbled around in that pile is a Treasure Goddess sock blank, mini skeins from 1 Yarn of a Tail, and two big Art Club batts. And Mousie, of course 😉
You would think that would be plenty to get me through the start of the year, but before I left Kansas I got myself a little going away gift (sniffle) from Unwind:
Five skeins of Happy Fuzzy Merino DK in the Enchanted colorway, which reminds me of an iris.
Another last-minute addition to the stash was a going away gift from a lovely coworker, who picked out this scrumptious alpaca blend while on vacation in South America:
All told, I am at 3,934 yards added into the stash in 2017.
Thankfully, I’ve managed to fit some knitting into the year!
I have one big project off the needles and am dying to show it off for you all, but it’s a gift so I have to keep it under wraps until it gets mailed off to the recipients. The rest of my output has been little things: a hat here, a scarf there, some baby things for gifts… They all added up, though, and I can claim a respectable 2,307 yards out of the stash, for a ratio of 59%.
Speaking of WIPs, I am very excited to report that this weekend I will be doing something I’ve wanted to do since the Carnaby skirt pattern went live on Knitty: attending Yarn School in Harveyville, Kansas.
*squee*
I am so, so excited. Awesome-sounding classes and field trips aside, I can’t wait to spend a weekend marinating with a big group of spinners. Knitting is intuitive to me now, but achieving this level of competence has taken close to twenty years and I’d like to work out the kinks in my spinning faster than that. Getting to Harveyville is just about as involved as getting to Manhattan (KS), so I will have three WIPs in tow. Between the flights and car rides and down times between crazed spinning fun, I hope to offset any additions to the stash!
Wish me luck!

[…] that’s come into my stash in the past few months. You’ll recall at the end of the first quarter, I was on my way to breaking even, having already knitted up 59% of the yardage I’d brought […]
