Here Comes the Future

(title thanks to the Handsome Furs)

Turquoise yarn bowl with many cutouts
My lovely new yarn bowl, in a pretty turquoise.

The apartment is clean, and I think I am ready for the new year.

2013 was ram-packed full of *stuff*

Four library conferences.

Three sweaters (you’ll see the other two in a teensy bit).

Large orange knitted blanket
Over 3/4 of a mile of yarn.

One ginormous blanket.

Why a snail? It's Coachella. Why not?
Why a snail? It’s Coachella. Why not?

My first Coachella.

White kitten and gray kitten in a sink
The kittens are obsessed with sinks and showers and places they can get wet.

KITTENS

More time with Melba, the best puppy in the universe.

And so many other things. I was not very good at taking the time for quiet and relaxation in 2013, as evidenced by my short list of 2013 knitting projects on Ravelry (12) and the short list of books I read (20, at least half of which were children’s books). I’d like for 2014 to have more time for sitting quietly and recharging.

I won’t complain, though. I learned a lot, I grew a lot, both as a person and as a professional. The knitting was still there, and I had a puppy sitting with me those times I did sit down to knit. Lots of wonderful people supported me in my endeavors in 2013, and I am grateful to have them in my life.

Engagement ring on a woman's hand
Yes.

And the year ended with the most wonderful surprise. Here comes the future.

  1. I think my favorite about the orange blanket photo is Melba being like “hello there. I am in this photo. See me. I am here. Hello. Hello.”
